Women's Basketball Earns First-Round Bye in ECC Championship for First Time and Will Play in Semifinal on Saturday at Daemen

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2024) – The Mercy University women's basketball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the ECC Women's Basketball Championship and will play in the Semifinal on Saturday, March 9th at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas/No. 6 D'Youville at Daemen University.

The Mavericks make their fourth straight appearance in the tournament after finishing in a program-best second place in the ECC standings during the regular season. Mercy went 19-8 during the regular season, recording their most wins in a season since the 1985-86 season. The Mavericks 12 ECC wins are the most in program history and Mercy earns a first-round bye in the ECC Tournament for the first time ever. The Mavericks look to earn their first postseason victory since the 1991-92 season and look to win their first ECC championship.

The tournament gets underway on Wednesday, March 6th with No. 3 St. Thomas Aquinas hosting No. 6 D'Youville at 6:30 p.m. in one First Round matchup. The other First Round matchup features No. 5 Staten Island playing at No. 4 District of Columbia at 7 p.m. The winner of the District of Columbia/Staten Island matchup will face top seed Daemen on Saturday, March 9th at 12 p.m. in the other Semifinal. The Final will be on Sunday, March 10th at 12 p.m. at Daemen.

Semifinal presale ticket sales end on Friday, March 8th at 11:59 a.m. Semifinal general admission ticket sales starts at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 8th and are open through the end of the game. Ticket sales for the Final open at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th with no presale.
