Women's Basketball Ranked 8th in NCAA Regional Rankings

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 6, 2024) – The Mercy University women's basketball team has been ranked eighth in the third NCAA East Regional Rankings, which are used to determine at-large bids for the NCAA Championship.

The Mavericks enter the rankings for the first time after going 1-0 last week with a win over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday for their ninth straight win. Eight teams are taken from the East Region to make up the tournament field. The ECC, CACC and NE10 conference tournament winners earn automatic bids, leaving five at-large bids into the tournament. Mercy looks to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985 and currently sits at 19-8.

Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, March 9th when they take on the winner of No. 3 STAC/No. 6 D'Youville in an ECC Championship Semifinal at 2:30 p.m. at Daemen University.
