DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 22, 2024) – Mercy University women's lacrosse junior Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II First Team All-American. Shimborske is one of 48 student-athletes from 23 different institutions to be named All-American by the IWLCA.
Shimborske is the program's first First Team All-American from the IWLCA since Hunter Isnardi in 2019.
Shimborske is named First Team All-American by the IWLCA for the first time in her career after being named Second Team All-American last season. The junior was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American and IWLCA First Team All-Region earlier this month. The ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC selection appeared in 18 games and had two goals, 58 ground balls, 41 caused turnovers and 114 draw controls. The junior led the team in ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls. The one-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week ranked second in the ECC in ground balls, first in caused turnovers and second in draw controls. Shimborske currently ranks No. 16 nationally in draw controls per game (6.33), No. 22 in caused turnovers per game (2.28) and No. 21 in ground balls per game (3.22). The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year recorded her 200th career draw control, 100th career caused turnover and 100th career ground ball during the season. She had a season-high six caused turnovers with six draw controls and five ground balls at Bloomsburg on March 16th.
