Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 5 Nationally in USA Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 Poll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Jan. 27, 2025) – The Mercy University men's lacrosse team has been ranked No. 5 in the nation in the 2025 USA Lacrosse Division II Men's Lacrosse Preseason Top 20 Poll.

The Mavericks are ranked fifth in the USA Lacrosse Poll after being ranked No. 8 in the Inside Lacrosse Preseason Poll last week. Mercy went 14-2 last season, winning their fifth straight ECC Championship and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the fifth straight season. Mercy ended last season ranked No. 6 nationally in the final Inside Lacrosse poll. The Mavericks and Frostburg State (No. 15) are the lone ECC schools in the poll. Mercy will face four schools currently ranked in the Inside Lacrosse Top 20 Poll.

Mercy returns three All-Conference selections from a year ago, highlighted by last year's ECC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Year sophomore Cameron Dorfman. Dorfman went 10-2 in goal in 2024 with 132 saves, a .569 save percentage and 8.86 goals-against average. Junior Devon Duchnowski returns after being named First Team All-ECC last season. Duchnowski had 23 goals and eight assists last season. Senior Owen Stephenson also returns after being tabbed Second Team All-ECC in 2024. The senior had 16 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls.

Head Coach Ryan MacSpadyen and the Mavericks open their 2025 season on Saturday, February 15th when they host Franklin Pierce at 12 p.m.
