Mercy University Basketball Highlights Diabetes Awareness Month with Special Warm-Up Initiative

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Mercy University Athletics is proud to announce its continued commitment to community health and education by recognizing Diabetes Awareness Month during an upcoming home basketball game. Players from the Mercy University Women's Basketball team will take the court wearing special warm-up shirts designed to promote awareness, support, and early detection of diabetes.

The initiative aims to shine a light on the more than 37 million Americans living with diabetes and the importance of preventive care, education, and community support. By incorporating this awareness effort into a high-visibility athletic event, Mercy University hopes to encourage conversations, increase access to information, and inspire members of the campus and local community to learn more about diabetes management and prevention.

"Mercy University Women's Basketball is committed to supporting causes that impact our player Ella Wilson, other student athletes, students, families, and neighbors," said Head Coach Scott Lagas. "Our student-athletes are proud to use their platform to raise awareness and stand with Ella and  those affected by diabetes."

In addition to the warm-up shirts, Mercy University will share educational resources throughout the event to help attendees better understand risk factors, symptoms, and ways to support loved ones living with diabetes.

The Mercy University Mavericks invite students, alumni, and community members to join them in this important cause and cheer on the teams as they compete on and off the court.
