Lesko Sweeps ECC Women's Basketball Weekly Awards; Abuhatab Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. (Feb. 24, 2025) – Mercy University women's basketball sophomore Grace Lesko (Northampton, Pa./Northampton Area) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for Week 15. Sophomore Amani Abuhatab (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) has been tabbed to the Honor Roll.

Lesko averaged a team-high 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, and 3.5 steals per game to go with 2.5 assists per game on 65.2 percent shooting as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting with four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in the 77-47 win over Queens on Wednesday. The Mavs forward ended the week with a game-high 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting with a game-high 12 rebounds to go with three assists, three blocks, and five steals in the 65-58 win over Molloy on Saturday. 

Abuhatab averaged 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with 13 points, five assists, and five rebounds in the win at Queens on Wednesday. The guard ended the week with 22 points on 7-of-15 shooting with a career-high 11 rebounds in the win over Molloy on Saturday.

Lesko has now earned 12 awards on the year and Abuhatab has earned six awards this season. Mercy has now earned 34 awards on the year.

Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday when they play at STAC at 2 p.m.
