Ashline and Hoti Record Game-High-Tying Two Hits as Baseball Hosts Southern Connecticut State

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Mar. 4, 2025) – Despite a game-high-tying two hits from junior Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) and senior Alfred Hoti (New York, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy), the Mercy University baseball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.

The Mavericks (7-5) see their two-game winning streak come to an end and fall to the Owls (5-3) for the first time since 2023.

Southern Connecticut State was led by Jack Drewry who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Chad Fedeli pitched 5.0 shutout innings to earn the win and Colin Blake pitched the final 4.0 innings to earn the save.

The Owls took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a Drewry two-run double.

The score remained 2-0 until the seventh inning when Brennan Staubley recorded an RBI single to make it 3-0.
