Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a season in which they went 6-11 overall and 3-10 in NE10 play. The Mavericks look to qualify for the NE10 Championship for the second time in program history after qualifying for the first time in 2023. Head Coach Marissa Spinazzola and the Mavericks were picked 11th in the NE10 Preseason Poll. Leading the returners for the Mavericks is sophomore Charlotte Sabert who had a team-high 14 points on five goals and four assists last season. Junior Madison Preston also returns after posting four goals and four assists and senior Samantha Trickel is back after netting four goals and two assists. Graduate student Jessica Evans returns after scoring three goals last season and sophomores Madison Brefka and Jaime Stella return after combining for two goals and two assists. Senior Reagan Lane returns on defense after posting a team-high seven defensive saves last season. Sophomore Eunice Santiago is also back after recording four defensive saves. Returning in goal is senior Rebecca McClure who went 5-8 with 81 saves, a .757 save percentage and 2.22 goals-against average in 13 starts. Also returning are juniors Kate Lynne Conklin and Alyssa Benvengo and sophomores Adrianna Taynor, Camryn Shea, Lilliauna Tepper and Kaylise McClure. Joining the team as freshmen are Gianna Bevacqua, Izzy Walther, Gwendolyn Smith and Gianna Felice.
The Mavericks are coming off a 4-1 win over D'Youville on Sunday. Mercy was led by graduate student Jessica Evans, sophomores Charlotte Sabert and Madison Brefka and junior Madison Preston who scored goals. Brefka, Evans, Preston and Sabert all have a team-high two points on the year. Senior Rebecca McClure is 1-1 in goal with four saves, a .667 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. Mercy is 0-3 all-time against Millersville. The Mavericks look to start 2-1 for the second straight year.
Scouting the Marauders
Millersville opened their 2025 season with wins over Pace and American International. The Marauders were picked eighth in the PSAC Preseason Poll after going 8-9 last season. Millersville has been led by Alexis Kern who has a team-high three goals and seven points. Emma Ruley has two goals and two assists and Megan Alvarez and Lauren Kampi both have two goals. Sarah Crysler is 2-0 in goal with eight saves, a .800 save percentage and 1.33 goals-against average.
