DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Women's Basketball junior Grace Lesko (Northampton, Pa./Northampton) has been named Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention for games played Jan. 5-11.
Lesko averaged a team-high 15.3 points per game on 56.7 percent shooting with 7.7 rebounds, 2.0 steals per game and a team-high 5.7 assists per game as Mercy went 3-0 on the week with all three wins coming by 20-plus points. The junior opened the week with a double-double by way of 15 points and a career-high 10 assists to go with five rebounds and one steal in the win over Bloomfield on Monday. The forward then had 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with six rebounds, four assists and one steal in the win over Dominican on Thursday. Lesko ended the week with a double-double by way of 12 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists and four steals in the win at Roberts Wesleyan on Sunday.
The award is the 11th of the season for Lesko and Mercy has now earned 17 awards on the year.
Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks resume action on Wednesday, January 14th when they play at UDC at 5:30 p.m.
