Grzelaczyk, Synan, Batter and Franco Sweep ECC Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards; Kelly and Meyer Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Women's Lacrosse freshman Jessica Grzelaczyk (Seaford, N.Y./Seaford) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, freshman Emma Synan (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) has been tabbed Defensive Player of the Week, freshman Emma Batter (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Port Jefferson) has been named Goalie of the Week and freshman Ava Franco (Coram, N.Y./Longwood) has been named Rookie of the Week for Week Six. Sophomores Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Kayden Meyer (Mastic, N.Y./William Floyd) earned Honor Roll recognition.

Grzelaczyk had a team-high 13 points on six goals and a team-high seven assists to go with three draw controls, one caused turnover and one ground ball as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists to go with one ground ball in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Grzelaczyk ended the week with a game-high seven points on three goals and four assists to go with one caused turnover and three draw controls in the win at STAC on Saturday.

Synan had a team-high four caused turnovers on the week to go with three ground balls as Mercy went 2-0 on the week, allowing just six goals and posting a shutout against STAC on Saturday. The freshman opened the week with two caused turnovers and two ground balls in Mercy's 18-6 win over Molloy on Wednesday. Synan ended the week with two caused turnovers and one ground ball in Mercy's 24-0 shutout win at STAC on Saturday.

Batter went 1-0 on the week with five saves, a .714 save percentage and 2.27 goals-against average in two games this week. The freshman opened the week with four saves and just two goals allowed in 22:48 minutes of action against Molloy on Wednesday. Batter ended the week making one save in the first half of her first collegiate start to earn the win against STAC on Saturday.

Franco had 10 points on four goals and six assists to go with six ground balls, eight draw controls and one caused turnover as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The freshman opened the week with four goals, one ground ball, one caused turnover and three draw controls in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Franco ended the week with a game-high six assists to go with five ground balls and five draw controls in the win at STAC on Saturday.

Kelly had eight points on seven goals and one assist to go with one caused turnover, one ground ball and one draw control as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with three goals, one caused turnover and one draw control in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Kelly ended the week with four goals, an assist, and one ground ball in the win at STAC on Saturday, recording her 100th career point.

Meyer had nine points on a team-high eight goals to go with one assist, seven draw controls, six ground balls and two caused turnovers as Mercy went 2-0 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with four goals, four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls in the win over Molloy on Wednesday. Meyer ended the week with four goals, an assist, five draw controls and two ground balls in the win over STAC on Saturday.

The award is the fifth for Grzelaczyk this season, the first for Synan and Batter, the second for Franco, the fourth for Kelly and the third for Meyer. Mercy has now earned 20 awards on the year.

Head Coach Dawn Sachs and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday when they host Pace at 4 p.m.
