ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – Despite a team-high 90 yards passing and 26 yards rushing from sophomore Madison Brefka (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse), the Mercy University Women's Flag Football Team dropped a 55-0 decision at Eastern University on Tuesday night.
The Mavericks (1-6) fall after picking up their first win on March 17th. The Eagles (10-1) have won four games in a row.
Brefka led Mercy with 90 yards passing and 26 yards rushing, while adding four flag pulls. Senior Ancksu Dixon (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) had a team-high five catches for 40 yards with five yards rushing, an interception and two flag pulls. Sophomore Jaime Stella (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) added 19 yards rushing, three catches for 14 yards and a team-high five flag pulls. Senior Rebecca McClure (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) recorded three catches for 22 yards and freshman Anna Palmieri (Queens, N.Y.) added one catch for 12 yards and three flag pulls. Sophomore Kaylise McClure (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) produced two catches for two yards and three flag pulls.
Eastern was led by Kira Green who threw for 229 yards and six touchdowns. Jeriyah Johnson had six catches for 83 yards and three touchdowns.
Mercy recorded 137 total yards with 90 yards passing and 47 yards rushing. Eastern had 303 total yards with 229 yards passing and 74 yards rushing.
Head Coach Mike Perrota and the Mavericks resume action on Tuesday, April 14th when they host Eastern at 5 p.m.
