DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Despite junior Kate Lynne Conklin (Greenvale, N.Y./North Shore) throwing a touchdown pass to sophomore Charlotte Sabert (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland), the Mercy University Women's Flag Football Team dropped a 55-6 decision to Eastern University on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.
The Mavericks (1-7) have dropped two games in a row, while the Eagles (16-2) have won three games in a row.
Conklin led Mercy with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Sabert in the third quarter. Conklin had 31 yards passing and 17 yards rushing. Sabert recorded her first career touchdown catch and sophomore Jaime Stella (Hawley, Pa./Wallenpaupack) added 14 yards rushing, three yards receiving and a 35-yard interception return. Sophomore Kaylise McClure (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) added three catches for 13 yards and added five flag pulls. Senior Ancksu Dixon (Freeport, N.Y./Freeport) recorded seven yards rushing, two flag pulls and three pass breakups and sophomore Madison Brefka (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero North Syracuse) had one catch for eight yards and five flag pulls. Senior Rebecca McClure (Canastota, N.Y./Canastota) added three flag pulls and two sacks, freshman Anna Palmieri (Queens, N.Y.) had two flag pulls and one pass breakup and junior Gabriela Jimenez (Highbridge, N.Y.) recorded one flag pull.
Eastern was led by Kira Green who had 191 yards passing and four touchdown passes. Kyla Massenburg ran for three touchdowns.
Mercy recorded 69 total yards with 31 yards passing and 38 yards rushing. Eastern had 240 total yards with 191 yards passing and 49 yards rushing.
Head Coach Mike Perrota and the Mavericks resume action on Monday, April 20th when they host Montclair State at 3 p.m.
