DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy University Women's Basketball Team has been ranked No. 7 in the third NCAA East Region Regional Rankings, which are used to determine at-large bids for the NCAA Championship.
Mercy moves up one spot in the rankings after going 1-0 last week with a 73-47 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. Eight teams are taken from the East Region to make up the tournament field. The ECC, CACC and NE10 conference tournament winners earn automatic bids, leaving five at-large bids into the tournament. Mercy looks to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years and currently sits at 21-6 on the year.
Head Coach Scott Lagas and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, March 7th when they face the winner of Molloy/UDC at Daemen at 2:30 p.m. in an ECC Championship Semifinal.
