COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Field Hockey junior Charlotte Sabert (Mohegan Lake, N.Y./Lakeland) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Field Hockey Preseason Co-Player of the Year. The Mavericks have been picked to finish first in the inaugural ECC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office earlier today.

Mercy received three first-place votes to top the poll with 33 points. Roberts Wesleyan received three first-place votes and 29 points to place second in the poll.

Sabert takes home Preseason Co-Player of the Year after appearing and starting in all 17 games for Mercy in 2025. Sabert scored eight goals and recorded three assists for 19 points. She led the Mavericks with 67 shots and 46 shots on goal, while ranking second on the team in goals and points.

Head Coach Marissa Spinazzola leads the poll after playing in the NE10 since 2019. The Mavericks went 4-8 in the NE10 last season and 5-12 overall, nearly qualifying for the NE10 Championship. Mercy most recently made the postseason in 2023.

Spinazzola and the Mavericks open their 2026 season on Thursday, September 3 when they host Pace at 2:30 p.m.
