Burgio continued his strong play during the month of April, going 4-0 on the mound with a 3.31 ERA in 35.1 innings pitched with 35 strikeouts. He held the opposition to a .220 batting average and was named ECC Rookie of the Week once during the month. The sophomore helped lead the Mavericks to a 13-5 record during the month of April and helped lead Mercy to their first ECC Championship berth since 2010. Burgio opened the month with six shutout innings and nine strikeouts to earn the win over D’Youville on April 2nd. The pitcher then threw six innings with just three runs allowed and eight strikeouts to earn the win over Bridgeport on April 9th. Burgio picked up his third straight win with two runs allowed and four strikeouts in a seven-inning win over Queens on April 16th. The sophomore picked up his final win of the month on April 23rd against Staten Island when he allowed just two earned runs in eight innings with seven strikeouts to earn his fourth win of the month.
