Van Buren played a key role in the Mavericks 4-0-3 record during the month of October. The senior helped lead a Mercy backline that allowed just four goals in seven games. The defender helped lead the Mavericks to their fourth ECC Championship berth in five seasons. The one-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week was tabbed ECC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ECC. Van Buren had five shots during the month and was recently named D2CCA First Team All-Region. The senior has also excelled in the classroom having been named to the College Sports Communicators Division II Men’s Soccer All-District Team with a 3.90 GPA as a Sports Management major. Van Buren ended the season with three goals and two game-winning goals and helped lead Mercy to their third NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons.
