Scouting the Mavericks
The Mavericks are coming off a 3-1 win over Virginia State on Saturday that snapped an 11-game losing streak. Mercy has been led at the plate by junior Anthony Murphy who is batting a team-best .333 with a team-high 18 RBI, two home runs, six doubles and 19 hits. The outfielder is currently second in the ECC in RBI and has a team-best .544 slugging percentage in 57 at bats. Also swinging the bat well is sophomore John Mooradian who is hitting .328 with a team-high 12 runs scored and has two home runs and eight RBI. The shortstop is second in the ECC with 12 stolen bases, trailing teammate Joseph Sadallah who has 13. Sadallah is hitting .245 on the year with six RBI and also has 12 runs scored in 53 at bats. The pitching staff is led by freshman Jack Kelly who has a team-best 2.66 ERA in 23.2 innings pitched with a team-high 16 strikeouts. Also excelling on the mound is junior Kevin Tise who is coming off a complete game against Virginia State and was named to the ECC Honor Roll. Tise has pitched a team-high 24.0 innings and is 1-2 with a 4.88 ERA and 15 strikeouts.
Scouting the Clippers
The Clippers enter the contest having dropped three games in a row against Assumption and Rollins. Concordia was selected to finish fifth in the North Division of the 2018 CACC Preseason Coaches Poll after going 10-28 last season. Leading the Clippers at the plate is Andre Jackson who is hitting .351 with a team-high four home runs and 15 RBI in 37 at bats. Also off to a good start is Jake Partridge who was named CACC Rookie of the Week earlier this week and is batting .353 with ten runs scored in 34 at bats. Hermes Abreu leads Concordia with a .355 average and is second on the team with nine RBI. The pitching staff is led by Dylan Lawrence who has a team-best 5.21 ERA in 19.0 innings pitched with a 1-2 record and two saves.
Scouting the Warriors
The Warriors have dropped two games in a row and enter the contest with a 6-6-1 record after going 23-20 last season. Nyack has been led by Anthony Torreullas who is batting a team-best .432 with a team-high 15 RBI, 19 hits and three doubles in 44 at bats. Also off to a strong start is Luke Kelly who is hitting .351 with four RBI, while Carlos Pino is second on the team with ten RBI and leads the Warriors with two home runs. The pitching staff is led by Chase Morris who is 2-1 with a 4.08 ERA in a team-high 17.2 innings pitched with 18 strikeouts. Jack Kelley is 2-1 with a 4.32 ERA and has a team-high 19 strikeouts in 16.2 innings.
Scouting the Purple Knights
The Purple Knights enter the contest 2-7 as of March 13th and were picked to finish eighth in the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division in the league's preseason poll after going 4-25 last season. Saint Michael's has been led at the plate by Trevor Allen who is hitting a team-high .357 with a home run and four RBI in 28 at bats. Connor Hopkins is batting .280 with four RBI and a home run and Dante Moran also has a team-high four RBI. The pitching staff is led by Drew Farris who is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 11.0 innings pitched with eight strikeouts. Alex Mendez was named to the NE-10 Honor Roll this week and is pitching to a 1.00 ERA in nine innings pitched.
