DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Baseball senior Zach Ashline (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie Central) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division II East Region All-Defensive Team.
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association, and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. II All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
Ashline earns the award for the first time in his career and becomes the first Maverick in program history to receive the honor. The outfielder had a .992 fielding percentage with just one error. The senior had four assists and 120 putouts in 51 games. Ashline hit .314 on the year with five home runs, 48 RBI, 33 runs, 60 hits, 14 doubles, five triples and 11 stolen bases. The three-time ECC Honor Roll recipient set a school record with his 26th career home run against Queens on May 1st. The CSC Academic All-District selection led the team in RBI and home runs and was fifth in the ECC in RBI. Ashline ends his career with a .300 average, 187 hits, 116 runs, 145 RBI, 26 home runs, 39 doubles, 10 triples and 21 stolen bases. The senior also ends his career with a .976 fielding percentage, 16 assists, six errors and 223 putouts.
