Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a 9-6 victory over Nyack on Tuesday that extended their win streak to four. The Mavericks are just one win shy of matching their win total from all of last year and are led by sophomore John Mooradian who is batting a team-high .345 with 16 RBI and 19 stolen bases. The shortstop also has 19 runs and a team-high 29 hits, while starting all 22 games this season. Junior Anthony Murphy is hitting .288 and has a team-high 23 RBI along with six doubles and ten runs. Junior Joseph Sadallah is batting .333 with a team-high 22 runs, ten doubles and 19 stolen bases with 12 RBI. Junior Adonis Garcia ranks among the ECC leaders with five home runs and has 13 RBI with 18 runs scored in 59 at bats. The pitching staff has been led by freshman Jack Kelly who sports a 2.89 ERA in 28.0 innings of work with 19 strikeouts. Junior Kevin Tise has posted a 4.82 ERA and a 2-2 record with 20 strikeouts in 28.0 innings of play.
Scouting the Bears
NYIT joined the ECC in baseball prior to this season after being a Division I member in baseball since 1981. The Bears are coming off their first-ever ECC win on Tuesday in a 12-3 win over LIU Post that saw NYIT improve to 4-9-1 on the year. The Bears currently sit at 1-3 in conference play and have been led by redshirt freshman Dominic Paolo who is batting .476 with a team-high 20 hits and 12 runs and has five RBI and a .511 on base percentage. Leading the team in RBI is sophomore Ben McNeill who has ten RBI and a team-high-tying three home runs. Junior Jake Lebel also has three home runs and is second on the team with nine RBI. The pitching staff has been led by sophomore Alex Passarella who is 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 23.0 innings of work, starting three games.
