Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy opens up ECC play after taking home the ECC Championship last season and qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. The Mavericks have won seven of their last nine games and are led by sophomore Destini Bullock who is tied for second in the ECC with 18 RBI and is tied for first with four home runs. Bullock is hitting .359 and has a .744 slugging percentage in 39 at bats. Also off to a strong start to the season is junior Mackenzie Dunlop who is hitting .429 (No. 4 in ECC) with nine RBI, ten runs and five stolen bases. Senior Skania Lemus is No. 7 in the ECC with 15 RBI and is hitting .364 with 14 runs scored. Senior Cassidy Wootten is batting .500 in nine games with 11 RBI and two home runs. The pitching staff is led by junior Kaylee Stevens who is third in the ECC with a 2.42 ERA and is 4-2 in 37.2 innings. Junior Yazzy Jameson is coming off a shutout her last time out and is 3-1 with a 4.64 ERA in 25.2 innings.
Scouting the Knights
Queens is off to a 6-6 start and are 3-1 in ECC play after sweeping Bridgeport and splitting with Molloy. The Knights are led by senior ToniMarie Valeriano who is batting .375 with eight RBI and five runs scored. The senior also has a 2.75 ERA with a 3-4 record in 43.1 innings pitched in the circle. Senior Vanessa Juengerkes leads the ECC with a 1.40 ERA and is 3-1 in 25.0 innings pitched. Also contributing at the plate is freshman Danielle D'Angelo who is batting .289 with a team-high 11 RBI in 38 at bats. Freshman Jessica Hickey has hit a team-high four home runs with eight RBI and is batting .308.
