CLERMONT, Fla. (Mar. 9, 2018) – The Mercy College softball team resumes action down in Florida starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, March 10th against Stonehill College. The Mavericks take on Jefferson University for a single game on Sunday before concluding the five-game trip with a matchup against St. Michael's College and Southern New Hampshire University on Monday.

Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is back in action after last playing on February 18th down in South Carolina. The Mavericks went 3-3 down in South Carolina and were led by sophomore Destini Bullock who batted .400 with a team-high ten RBI and two home runs in 15 at bats. Also hitting the ball well is senior Skania Lemus who hit .389 with seven RBI and a team-high three home runs to begin the season. Leading Mercy in the circle is junior Kaylee Stevens who has pitched to a 2-1 record with a 1.62 ERA and was named ECC Pitcher of the Week. The junior has also hit a team-best .462 at the plate in 13 at bats and has two RBI on the year.
Scouting the Skyhawks
Stonehill has started the 2018 season with six straight losses after going 11-30 a year ago. The Skyhawks have been led by junior Carly Rennie who has a team-high two RBI, six hits and is hitting .333 on the year. Freshman Michelle Theilgard is hitting .357 with five hits and senior Olivia Peterson is batting .400 with four hits in ten at bats. Freshman Genna Hartman leads Stonehill in the circle with a 2.92 ERA in a team-best 12.0 innings pitched.
Scouting the Rams
Jefferson opened their season with a doubleheader split against Millersville on Tuesday. The Rams are coming off a 25-28 season and will play three games in Florida before facing the Mavericks. Jefferson has been led at the plate by Madison Heno who has one home run and one RBI in three at bats. Courtney Wensel has a team-high two RBI in five at bats. The pitching staff is led by Naomi Stas who has a team-best 1.75 ERA in four innings pitched. Stephanie Pepper has posted a 3.50 ERA in four innings pitched with eight strikeouts.
Scouting the Purple Knights
St. Michael's will open its 2018 season on Saturday and will play five games before facing Mercy on Monday. The Purple Knights went 12-20 last year and 11-11 in NE-10 play. St. Michael's returns their leading run producer in sophomore Torie Rathwell who ended last season with 20 RBI, four home runs and 13 runs scored. Sophomore Danielle Markowski also returns after posting nine RBI and a home run in 84 at bats. Senior Danielle Brown and Rathwell will lead the Purple Knights in the circle. Brown went 6-12 with a 3.27 ERA in 115 2/3 innings last year and Rathwell went 6-8 with a 2.95 ERA in 85 1/3 innings.
Scouting the Penmen
Southern New Hampshire has opened its season with six straight wins and will play four games before facing Mercy on Monday. The Penmen are coming off a season in which they went 27-20 and have been led at the plate this season by senior Sarah Lavallee who is batting .300 with a team-high four home runs and nine RBI in 20 at bats. The senior has also gone 4-0 in the circle with a 1.75 ERA in 20 innings pitched with two complete games. Also excelling at the plate is senior Brittany Perdigao who his batting .476 with a team-high ten hits and three stolen bases.
