The Mavericks (19-21, 8-8 ECC) improve to .500 in ECC play and have their most wins in a season since 2010, while the Pioneers (24-14, 12-4 ECC) have dropped two games in a row. With their next victory the Mavericks will have their most wins in a season since 1990 when Mercy won 26 games.

Junior Joseph Sadallah (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) batted 2-for-4 and sophomore John Mooradian (Marlboro, N.Y./Marlboro) went 1-for-4 with an RBI. A low-scoring affair broke out in the series finale with LIU Post taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly from Joe Spitaleri.
It remained 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when Mooradian doubled home freshman Zak Kain to tie the game up at 1-1. The Mavericks took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth when Carpenter hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored junior Miguel Ortiz Sanchez (Bronx, N.Y./Monroe College) who walked to lead off the inning and advanced to third on an error prior to scoring.
Mercy would hold the Pioneers without a run for the remainder of the game to secure the win.
