Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy has won two of their last three games and with another win would have their first 20-win season since 1990. The Mavericks have been led by junior Joseph Sadallah who is batting .345 with a team-high 37 runs along with 17 RBI, 50 hits, 13 doubles and 27 stolen bases. Junior Anthony Murphy is hitting .328 with a team-high 40 RBI and has 12 doubles on the year. Sophomore John Mooradian has a team-high 33 stolen bases with a .327 average, 36 runs, 27 RBI and a team-high 53 hits. Junior Adonis Garcia has a team-high seven home runs with 25 RBI and 30 runs scored in 135 at bats. The pitching staff is led by junior Kevin Tise who is 3-2 with a 3.44 ERA with 55.0 innings pitched with 43 strikeouts. Freshman Jack Kelly has a 4.69 ERA and is 2-5 in 48.0 innings with 30 strikeouts.
Scouting the Spartans
St. Thomas Aquinas enters this weekend's series in first place in the ECC standings and have won five games in a row. The Spartans are led by senior Joseph Pena who is batting a team-high .390 with 55 hits, 31 RBI, 40 runs and 28 stolen bases. Senior Giovanni Dingcong is hitting .389 with 11 home runs and an ECC-best 46 RBI in 131 at bats. The outfielder also has 13 doubles and 16 stolen bases. Senior Frankie Moscatiello leads the pitching staff with a 1.29 ERA in 55.2 innings with a 7-0 record and 61 strikeouts. Sophomore Angelo Baez has a team-high nine saves and is 3-1 with a 1.19 ERA in 30.1 innings.
