Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy is coming off a sweep over Bridgeport on Sunday and with a sweep over NYIT on Tuesday would improve to .500 in ECC play. Leading the Mavericks at the plate is junior Kaylee Stevens who is batting a team-high .367 with ten RBI and two home runs. The junior is coming off a two home run day against the Purple Knights on Sunday and is also 4-3 in the circle with a 2.81 ERA in 42.1 innings with 30 strikeouts. Junior Mikayla Newham is hitting .365 on the year and is second on the team with 17 runs and four stolen bases. Senior Cassidy Wootten is hitting .404 with 16 RBI and two home runs in 52 at bats and sophomore Destini Bullock is batting .304 with a team-high 19 RBI and four home runs. Senior Skania Lemus also has four home runs and leads the team with 18 runs scored and is second with 17 RBI. Junior Yazzy Jameson is 5-3 in the circle with a 3.25 ERA in 51.2 innings with 34 strikeouts. Junior Raina Gorman also sees time in the circle and is 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA in 37.1 innings.
Scouting the Bears
NYIT is coming off being swept by Queens on Sunday after sweeping Bridgeport on Saturday. The Bears are led at the plate by freshman Lizul Portugal who is batting a team-high .395 with seven RBI and four doubles. Sophomore Sydney Kratzert is hitting .328 with a team-best 12 RBI and two home runs in 58 at bats. Sophomore Brooke Scherer is hitting at a .333 clip and has 11 RBI and a team-high-tying two home runs in 60 at bats. The pitching staff is led by senior Sofia Evangelista who is 5-4 with a 4.40 ERA in 57.1 innings with 18 strikeouts. Senior Ashley Russo has made six starts and is 0-5 with a 7.68 ERA in 31.0 innings with nine strikeouts.
