Scouting the Mavericks
Mercy holds a one-game lead over Bridgeport for the fourth and final ECC Championship spot. The Mavericks are looking for their first ECC Championship berth since 2010 and need to win at least two games to secure a spot. Mercy is led by junior Anthony Murphy who is batting .322 with a team-high 40 RBI and 14 doubles. The junior also has 25 runs and three home runs, while sophomore John Mooradian is batting .313 with an ECC-best 34 stolen bases. The shortstop has scored 37 runs and has driven in 28 runs. Junior Joseph Sadallah leads the team with a .327 average and has a team-high 38 runs scored along with 13 doubles and 19 RBI. Junior Kevin Tise leads the pitching staff with a 3.97 ERA and 3-3 record in 59.0 innings. Freshman Jack Kelly has made ten starts and is 2-5 with a 4.39 ERA in 55.1 innings. Senior Juan Perez leads the bullpen with a 1.90 ERA and three saves in 23.2 innings.
Scouting the Purple Knights
Bridgeport needs to win three of the four games to secure the ECC Championship berth. The Purple Knights are led by Logan Allen who is batting .353 with 11 RBI and 27 runs scored. Senior Tom Rinaldi is batting .299 with a team-high 38 RBI along with four home runs and 21 runs. Senior Ben Torres is batting .266 with 28 RBI and has five home runs and 24 runs. Senior Daren Grabowski is batting .331 with a team-high nine home runs and 43 runs scored along with nine doubles, three triples and 11 stolen bases. The pitching staff is led by Anthony Martino who is 1-8 with a 3.70 ERA in 48.2 innings and Jason Burger is 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in 56.0 innings.
