Organista Scores as Field Hockey Hosts Bentley

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Oct. 29, 2019) – Despite a goal from senior Kaylee Organista (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), the Mercy College field hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University on Tuesday afternoon at Mercy Field.

The Mavericks (3-11, 3-10 NE10) have dropped six games in a row, while the Falcons (8-9, 6-7 NE10) have won four of their last five games.

Organista recorded her first collegiate goal and freshman Alyssa Sacco (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) dished out an assist. Sophomore Lauren Viscione (Phillipsburg, N.Y./Phillipsburg) made a game-high ten saves to take the loss.

Bentley was led by Rachel Crowley who had two goals and by Tess Anderson who had a goal and two assists. Kayleigh Vogel played 45 minutes in goal to earn the win.

Viscione made two saves in the first quarter before the Falcons broke through in the 14th minute when Sam D'Aquila scored off an assist from Anderson to make it 1-0 after one quarter of play.

Bentley made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when Anderson scored following an assist from Sarah Rockwood. The Falcons later increased the lead to 3-0 in the 29th minute when Crowley scored following a rebound of her own shot that was originally stopped by Viscione. The score remained 3-0 at halftime in favor of Bentley with the guests holding a 10-0 edge in shots.

The Falcons scored just over a minute into the third quarter to make it 4-0 following a Keally Ingersoll goal. Bentley later built the lead to 5-0 in the 39th minute following another goal by Crowley. The score remained 5-0 at the end of the third quarter.

The score stayed at 5-0 heading into the 52nd minute when Organista scored following a pass from Sacco to make it 5-1. Bentley would hold on for the victory despite not scoring in the fourth quarter.

Bentley held a 22-3 edge in shots and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.

Head Coach Morgan O'Donohue and the Mavericks resume action on Friday, November 1st when they play at Stonehill at 3 p.m.
