Game Preview: Softball Takes on St. Thomas Aquinas, Pace, LIU Post, Molloy and Georgian Court This Week

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Apr. 8, 2019) – The Mercy College softball team resumes action on Tuesday, April 9th when they host St. Thomas Aquinas. The Mavericks will then host Pace on Wednesday before playing at LIU Post on Thursday. Mercy ends the week with a doubleheader at home against Molloy on Saturday before playing at Georgian Court on Sunday.

Scouting the Mavericks

Mercy is coming off a split against Bridgeport on Saturday. The Mavericks have been led at the plate by sophomore Hannah Mueller who is batting a team-high .455 with 20 RBI and 23 runs scored. Mueller has a team-high 40 hits and is second on the team in RBI. Senior Mikayla Newham is hitting .381 with a team-high 29 runs along with a team-high-tying five stolen bases. Senior Kaylee Stevens has a team-high 23 RBI and is hitting .376 with a team-high six doubles. Senior Raina Gorman has a team-best 2.54 ERA and has five wins in the circle with 28 strikeouts in 49.2 innings. Freshman Katelyn Shephard has five wins with a 4.28 ERA in 36.0 innings with 32 strikeouts.

 

Scouting the Spartans

St. Thomas Aquinas is coming off a split with Bridgeport on Sunday. The Spartans are led at the dish by junior Ashley Landolina who is batting a team-high .395 with a team-high 22 RBI. Landolina also has 24 runs scored and a team-high five home runs and six doubles. Senior Caitlyn Francoeur is batting .344 with four home runs and nine RBI in 61 at bats. The pitching staff is led by Adrianna Dilal who has a team-best 2.63 ERA in 72.0 innings with six wins. Senior Colleen Borum is 9-4 with a 3.09 ERA in a team-high 93.0 innings.

 

Scouting the Setters

Pace will host New Haven on Tuesday before facing the Mavericks on Wednesday. The Setters have been led by Arielle Acosta who is hitting a team-high .360 with 12 RBI and 13 runs scored. Annie Carberry and Zoie Iverson both have a team-high 14 RBI and Iverson is third on the team with a .333 average. Kate Dolinski leads the pitchers with a 2.90 ERA and 4-5 record in 62.2 innings with 39 strikeouts. Emma Bernet has a 3.07 ERA and 3-5 record in 43.1 innings.

 

Scouting the Pioneers

The Pioneers will host NYIT on Tuesday before taking on the Mavericks on Thursday. LIU Post swept the Mavericks in their first meeting on March 26th. The Pioneers are led by Julia Seader who leads the ECC with a .487 average and has 33 RBI, 11 home runs and 37 runs scored in 113 at bats. Abbey Fortin is batting .350 with eight home runs and 28 RBI. Hannah Olshevski leads LIU Post with a 1.54 ERA and 13-3 record in 109.1 innings. Katie Humhej has a 2.39 ERA and 14-4 record in 111.1 innings with 56 strikeouts.

 

Scouting the Lions

The Lions will host Queens on Tuesday before facing the Mavericks on Saturday. The two teams split their first meeting on March 30th. Molloy is led by Courtney Greene who is batting a team-high .322 with a team-high 19 RBI and 12 doubles in 115 at bats. Amanda King has 14 RBI and 13 runs scored and Alex Burns is batting .303 with 13 RBI and 20 runs scored. Greene leads Molloy in the circle with a 2.35 ERA and 4-11 record in 92.1 innings. Jenna Turato has an 8-8 record and 2.91 ERA in 86.2 innings with 85 strikeouts.

 

Scouting the Lions

Georgian Court will face Goldey-Beacom on Wednesday and Bloomfield on Saturday before hosting Mercy on Sunday. The Lions are led by Samantha Reilly who is batting a team-high .398 with 41 RBI, 12 home runs and 26 runs scored. Marissa Trezza is hitting .363 with 40 RBI and 12 home runs in 102 at bats. The pitching staff is led by Jessica O'Neil who is 12-1 with a 1.71 ERA in 65.1 innings with 46 strikeouts. Mikayla Gilgert is 11-3 with a 1.98 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 95.2 innings.
