Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off 4-3 and 6-3 victories over Molloy in their ECC and home opener on Tuesday.
- Mercy was picked to finish 3rd in the ECC Preseason Poll and senior Hannah Mueller was named ECC Preseason Player of the Year.
- Mercy went 5-5 during the 2020 shortened season and went 24-26 during their last full season in 2019 just missing the ECC Tournament.
- The Mavericks last made the ECC Tournament in 2018 and made the NCAA Tournament in 2017 after winning their first ECC Championship.
- Mercy is looking to start 4-2 for the first time since 2019.
- Friday's meetings are the first between the Mavericks and the Saints.
- The Mavericks look to start 4-0 in ECC play for the first time in program history.
- Sophomore Sydney Johnston was named to the ECC Honor Roll earlier this week and is hitting a team-high .364 with four hits, one double and two runs scored.
- Junior Alexis Crawford is second on the team with a .357 average and has a team-high five hits and three stolen bases with one RBI and two runs scored. Sophomore Samantha Franck is hitting .250 on the year and has a team-high two home runs and six RBI on the year.
- Junior Ylannah Bowman went 2-for-4 with two RBI in the sweep of Molloy on Tuesday and senior Danielle Burgos recorded a walk-off RBI single in game one against the Lions.
- Sophomore Alexi Benson leads the Mavericks in the circle with a 3.00 ERA and seven strikeouts. She went the distance in game one against Molloy to earn the win. Senior Jessica Becchetti has a 3.18 ERA in 11.0 innings with six strikeouts. She pitched a complete game against Molloy in game two to earn the win.
- Junior Catherine Zucker has pitched 6.1 innings of relief and has a 4.42 ERA with four strikeouts.
Scouting the Saints
- D'Youville is coming off 4-1 and 13-3 wins over Staten Island on March 29th.
- The Saints were picked seventh in the ECC Preseason Poll.
- D'Youville went 8-2 during the 2020 shortened season and went 13-22 during their last full season in 2019.
- The Saints are making the transition from Division III to Division II.
- D'Youville is 4-2 in road games this season.
- The Saints are led at the plate by junior Maddy Pepke who is batting a team-high .429 with a team-high 15 hits and 11 runs scored. She also has a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Jamie Bower is hitting .393 with a team-high 11 RBI and five doubles. She also has seven runs scored and is a one-time ECC Player of the Week.
- Freshman Ava Miller and junior Mikaela Milleville are both hitting .400 on the year and have combined for six RBI, four stolen bases, six doubles and 15 runs scored.
- The pitching staff is led by senior Alexa Haberer who is 4-1 in the circle with a 1.53 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 32 innings. Senior Brittaney Goodrich is 2-2 with a 2.92 ERA in 24 innings and freshman Lauren Booth is 1-0 with a 2.10 ERA in 10 innings. Booth was named ECC Rookie of the Week earlier this week.
