Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off 5-4 and 10-0 losses to St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
- Mercy was picked to finish 3rd in the ECC Preseason Poll and senior Hannah Mueller was named ECC Preseason Player of the Year.
- Mercy went 5-5 during the 2020 shortened season and went 24-26 during their last full season in 2019 just missing the ECC Tournament.
- The Mavericks last made the ECC Tournament in 2018 and made the NCAA Tournament in 2017 after winning their first ECC Championship.
- Mercy is looking to start 10-6 for the first time since 2018.
- The Mavericks are looking to start 9-3 in ECC play for the first time since 2017.
- Mercy is 2-0 all-time against D'Youville, having swept the teams' prior meeting on April 2nd.
- Junior Alexis Crawford was named ECC Player of the Week last week and is batting .417 on the year with a team-high 20 hits and 11 stolen bases. She also has nine runs, four RBI, one double and one triple on the year. Senior Hannah Mueller is batting a team-high .441 on the year with six RBI, a team-high-tying 10 runs and one stolen base. She was named to the ECC Honor Roll last week.
- Junior Ylannah Bowman has a .333 batting average with a home run, six RBI and five runs scored and senior Alyssa Guzman has a .313 average with eight RBI, a home run and five runs scored.
- Sophomore Sydney Johnston is batting .382 with eight RBI, eight runs and four doubles and senior Danielle Burgos is batting .400 with 10 runs, six RBI and five stolen bases. Sophomore Samantha Franck has a team-high nine RBI and a team-high two home runs on the year.
- Sophomore Alexi Benson leads the Mavericks in the circle with a 3-1 record in 28.1 innings. Benson has a 2.96 ERA and a team-high 36 strikeouts. She was named ECC Rookie of the Week last week after earning the win in both of her starts. Senior Jessica Becchetti has a 4.57 ERA in 23 innings with 19 strikeouts and is 2-2 on the season. Junior Sabrina Gonzalez earned the win in game two against Staten Island last Saturday and is 1-1 in 10.1 innings.
- Junior Catherine Zucker has pitched 19.2 innings of relief and has a team-best 2.49 with 20 strikeouts. She earned the win in Mercy's game one victory over Queens on Tuesday.
Scouting the Saints
- D'Youville is coming off a 2-1 and 5-4 losses to Bridgeport on Friday, April 9th.
- The Saints were picked seventh in the ECC Preseason Poll.
- D'Youville went 8-2 during the 2020 shortened season and went 13-22 during their last full season in 2019.
- The Saints are making the transition from Division III to Division II.
- D'Youville is 3-3 in home games this season.
- The Saints are led at the plate by junior Maddy Pepke who is batting a team-high .440 with a team-high 22 hits and 14 runs scored. She also has a home run and two RBI. Sophomore Jamie Bower is hitting .316 with a team-high 11 RBI along with five doubles. She also has eight runs scored and is a one-time ECC Player of the Week.
- Junior Mikaela Milleville is hitting .375 on the year and has four RBI, ten runs and a team-high six doubles. Senior Rachel Colan is batting .308 with six RBI and 10 runs scored.
- The pitching staff is led by senior Alexa Haberer who is 4-3 in the circle with a 2.51 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 39 innings. Senior Brittaney Goodrich is 2-3 with a 3.06 ERA in 34.1 innings and freshman Lauren Booth is 1-1 with a 1.45 ERA in 19.1 innings. Booth was named ECC Rookie of the Week on March 29th.
