Scouting the Mavericks
- Mercy is coming off 10-2 and 12-2 wins over D'Youville on Friday.
- Mercy was picked to finish 3rd in the ECC Preseason Poll and senior Hannah Mueller was named ECC Preseason Player of the Year.
- Mercy went 5-5 during the 2020 shortened season and went 24-26 during their last full season in 2019 just missing the ECC Tournament.
- The Mavericks last made the ECC Tournament in 2018 and made the NCAA Tournament in 2017 after winning their first ECC Championship.
- Mercy is looking to start 16-6 for the first time since 2017.
- The Mavericks are looking to start 13-3 in ECC play for the first time in program history.
- Mercy split a doubleheader with Staten Island on April 10th, falling 3-2 in game one before earning a 6-3 win in game two.
- The Mavericks are 0-4 against Caldwell dating back to 2013. The teams last met on April 22, 2017.
- Mercy is 23-19 against Bridgeport dating back to 2007. The Mavericks last swept a doubleheader against the Purple Knights in 2016.
- Senior Danielle Burgos was named to the ECC Honor Roll on Monday and is batting a team-high .468 with 14 runs, nine RBI and six stolen bases. Junior Alexis Crawford was named ECC Player of the Week on April 5th and is batting .455 on the year with a team-high 25 hits and 16 stolen bases. She also has 14 runs, four RBI, one double and one triple on the year. Senior Hannah Mueller is batting .436 on the year with six RBI, a team-high-tying 14 runs and two stolen bases. She was named to the ECC Honor Roll on April 5th.
- Junior Ylannah Bowman has a .342 batting average with a home run, nine RBI and nine runs scored and senior Alyssa Guzman has a .316 average with 11 RBI, a home run and five runs scored.
- Sophomore Sydney Johnston was named ECC Rookie of the Week on Monday and is batting .400 with a team-high 12 RBI to go along with 11 runs and five doubles. Sophomore Samantha Franck has 10 RBI and a team-high two home runs on the year.
- Sophomore Alexi Benson leads the Mavericks in the circle with a 4-1 record in 31.1 innings. Benson has a 2.68 ERA and a team-high 38 strikeouts. She was named ECC Rookie of the Week on April 5th. Senior Jessica Becchetti has appeared in 24 innings with 21 strikeouts and is 3-2 on the season.
- Junior Catherine Zucker has pitched 21.2 innings of relief and has a 2.91 ERA with 22 strikeouts. She is 2-1 in the circle on the year.
Scouting the Dolphins
- Staten Island is coming off a 4-2 loss to Queens in game one on Saturday before earning a 10-9 win in eight innings in game two.
- The Dolphins were picked in a tie for fifth in the ECC Preseason Poll.
- Staten Island did not play during the 2020 shortened season. The Dolphins went 18-17 during their last full season in 2019 winning the CUNYAC Championship and advancing to the Division III NCAA Tournament.
- The Dolphins picked up their first-ever ECC wins with 6-0 and 9-4 victories at Queens on April 3rd.
- Staten Island is led at the plate by sophomore Samantha MacPherson who is batting a team-high .425 with five RBI, a home run and a team-high-tying 10 runs scored. Sophomore Emily Koerick is hitting .400 with 10 runs and three stolen bases.
- Sophomore Claudia Porcaro has a team-high-tying six RBI and sophomore Isabel Gallo also has a team-high-tying six RBI.
- The pitching staff is led by Koerick who is 3-4 with a 2.35 ERA in 47.2 innings with 59 strikeouts. Sophomore Jaclyn Kateridge is 1-2 in the circle with a 9.45 ERA in 20 innings with three strikeouts.
Scouting the Cougars
- Caldwell is coming off 3-1 and 9-1 victories over Bloomfield on Sunday. The Cougars will play at Concordia on Tuesday before facing the Mavericks on Wednesday.
- The Cougars enter Tuesday's games against Concordia on a four-game winning streak.
- Caldwell was picked second in the CACC Preseason Poll after going 2-4 during the 2020 shortened season. The Cougars went 32-23 during their last full season in 2019, advancing to the CACC Tournament.
- The Cougars last made the NCAA Tournament in 2018 when they went 35-18 and won a game before losing twice.
- Caldwell is led at the plate by sophomore Taylor Mischler who is batting a team-high .431 with 11 RBI, a team-high 10 doubles and 22 hits, to go along with 16 runs. Senior Anyssia Ramirez is hitting .405 with 11 RBI, 10 runs and 17 hits on the year.
- Junior Chloe VanGorder has a team-high-tying 15 RBI with eight doubles and nine runs and senior Paige Sandoval also has a team-high-tying 15 RBI with six doubles.
- The pitching staff is led by junior Kayla Daly who is 4-3 with a 3.00 ERA in 39.2 innings with 31 strikeouts. Junior Mariah Culver is 6-4 in the circle with a 3.34 ERA in 50.1 innings with 41 strikeouts.
Scouting the Purple Knights
- Bridgeport earned 8-5 and 6-1 victories in their last games on Sunday at Queens.
- The Purple Knights were picked first in the ECC Preseason Poll.
- Bridgeport went 8-5 during the 2020 shortened season. The Purple Knights went 33-16 during their last full season in 2019 winning the ECC Championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Purple Knights have won 11 of their first 12 games with their lone loss coming to Molloy on Saturday.
- Bridgeport is led by senior Elyssa Marmolejo who is a one-time ECC Player of the Week this season and is hitting .394 with eight runs and six RBI. Sophomore Meg McFarland is hitting .391 with a team-high 12 runs scored to go along with seven RBI.
- Senior Kaira Ramon leads the team with 13 RBI and has eight runs and four doubles.
- Sophomore Kaite Burawski is a two-time ECC Pitcher of the Week and leads the pitching staff with a 5-1 record and 1.26 ERA in 39 innings. She has 66 strikeouts and has allowed just seven earned runs in her seven appearances. Senior Miranda Hillman is 3-0 in the circle and has a 1.62 ERA in 34.2 innings with 28 strikeouts.
