NEW YORK, N.Y. (Feb. 22, 2022) - Mercy College men's basketball junior Garrett Kirkland (Springdale, Md./Bishop McNamara) has been named Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Men's Basketball Division II-III Player of the Week Honorable Mention for games played Feb. 14-20.

Kirkland averaged a team-high 25.0 points per game on 45 percent shooting with 11 threes and 3.5 rebounds per game in two games. The junior opened the week with a career-high and game-high 41 points on 15-of-26 shooting overall and 8-of-16 shooting from downtown. Kirkland ended the week with nine points and four rebounds at No. 24 Daemen on Sunday.

The award is the sixth earned by Kirkland this season and the Mavericks have now earned 12 awards on the year.

Head Coach Michael Maczko and the Mavericks resume action on Wednesday when they host Staten Island at 7 p.m.
