Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off 6-0 and 8-0 losses at Adelphi on Monday. The Mavericks were led by freshman Maddie Lula who had a team-high two hits in game one.
· Mercy was picked fourth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 17-14 last season, qualifying for the ECC Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Mavericks went 15-9 in ECC play a year ago.
· Last Monday, sophomore Shannon Sisco, senior Alexis Crawford and Lula were named to the ECC Honor Roll.
· Sisco was named ECC Player of the Week, junior Alexi Benson was tabbed Pitcher of the Week, freshman Victoria Seppala was named Rookie of the Week and senior Ariana Ricci was named to the Honor Roll on February 21st.
· Sisco is hitting a team-high .469 with a team-high seven runs and 15 hits to go along with three RBI. Lula is batting .391 with nine hits, three runs and one RBI and Crawford is hitting .324 with 12 hits, six runs, three RBI and a team-high six stolen bases.
· Junior Samantha Franck is hitting .250 with four RBI and a home run and Ricci has a team-high five RBI with three runs scored.
· Benson is 2-3 in the circle with a 4.75 ERA in 28 innings with 21 strikeouts. Senior Sabrina Gonzalez has pitched 14.2 innings with five strikeouts in three starts.
· Crawford, graduate student Danielle Burgos and junior Sydney Johnston were named First Team All-ECC last season.
Scouting the Bucs
· Barry is coming off 4-1 and 7-5 losses to Columbus State on Wednesday.
· The Bucs will host Kutztown on Thursday before hosting Mercy on Friday.
· Barry is receiving votes in the latest NFCA Poll.
· The Bucs were picked eighth in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Preseason Poll after going 11-14 last season.
· Barry is led by one-time SSC Player of the Week Courtney Chisholm who is batting a team-high .347 with 10 RBI and a team-high 13 stolen bases. Maggie Wheless has a team-high 19 RBI with three home runs and is hitting .277.
· Cassandra Lee has 11 RBI and is hitting .322 and Sofia Chamorro has 15 RBI and is hitting .289.
· One-time SSC Pitcher of the Week Maci Barnhart is 11-5 in the circle with a 2.03 ERA in 103.1 innings with 67 strikeouts. Lee is 2-4 with a 2.33 ERA in 39 innings with 33 strikeouts.
Scouting the Fighting Knights
· Lynn is coming off an 11-1 loss and 7-5 win against Hillsdale on Saturday. The Fighting Knights will host Kutztown on Friday before hosting Mercy on Saturday.
· The Fighting Knights were picked 11th in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Preseason Poll after going 1-28 last season.
· Lynn is led by graduate student Janelle Dominguez who is batting a team-high .390 with a team-high 16 RBI, five home runs and four doubles. Taylor Scala is hitting .327 with eight stolen bases, four RBI and six runs.
· Sophomore Morgan Simpson is hitting .294 with a team-high 10 stolen bases with three RBI and seven runs scored. Junior Monique Poitevin has a team-high nine runs scored.
· Freshman Madison Prickett leads the pitching staff with a 4.00 ERA and 2-8 record in 56 innings with 43 strikeouts. Sophomore Faith Miller is 6-5 with a 4.43 ERA in 49 innings with 31 strikeouts.
