Scouting the Mavericks

·        The Mavericks are coming off 8-0 and 6-5 losses to D'Youville on Sunday. Mercy was led by senior Alexis Crawford who had a team-high two RBI on the day.

·        Mercy was picked fourth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 17-14 last season, qualifying for the ECC Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Mavericks went 15-9 in ECC play a year ago.

·       The Mavericks are looking to secure their second straight ECC Championship appearance. Mercy currently holds a 2.5 game lead over Queens for the fourth and final ECC Championship spot.

·        Junior Samantha Franck was named ECC Player of the Week and junior Alexi Benson was tabbed Pitcher of the Week last week.

·        On April 11th, Franck was named to the ECC Honor Roll and on April 4th junior Sydney Johnston was named to the ECC Honor Roll.

·        On March 7th, sophomore Shannon Sisco, Crawford and freshman Maddie Lula were named to the ECC Honor Roll.

·        Sisco was named ECC Player of the Week, Benson was tabbed Pitcher of the Week, freshman Victoria Seppala was named Rookie of the Week and senior Ariana Ricci was named to the Honor Roll on February 21st.

·        Sisco is hitting a team-high .365 with a team-high 27 runs with 42 hits to go along with 11 RBI. Lula has 29 hits, 12 runs, a team-high four home runs with nine RBI and Crawford is hitting .324 with a team-high 48 hits and 21 stolen bases. She also has 25 runs, 13 RBI and five doubles. The senior recorded her 100th career hit against D'Youville on April 15th.

·        Franck has 40 hits with a team-high 26 RBI and eight doubles to go along with three home runs and Ricci has 13 RBI with 14 runs scored. Johnston is second on the team with 17 RBI and is hitting .286.

·        Benson is 9-13 in the circle with a 3.04 ERA in 131.1 innings with 116 strikeouts. She recorded her 200th career strikeout in the win over Queens on April 21st. Senior Sabrina Gonzalez has pitched 75.1 innings with 36 strikeouts and is 1-11 with a 5.95 ERA in 13 starts. Junior Angelina Oquendo is 0-4 in the circle with a 5.12 ERA in 41.0 innings with 19 strikeouts.  

·        Crawford, graduate student Danielle Burgos and junior Sydney Johnston were named First Team All-ECC last season.

Scouting the Purple Knights

·        Bridgeport is coming off 5-2 and 7-3 wins over AIC on Wednesday.

·        The Purple Knights were picked first in the ECC Preseason Coaches' Poll after going 23-9 last season, sweeping the ECC regular season and tournament championships. Bridgeport has won the last two ECC tournament championships.

·         Leading Bridgeport at the plate is ECC Co-Preseason Player of the Year and one-time ECC Player of the Week senior Kaira Ramon who is batting a team-high .427 with 41 RBI, three home runs and 53 hits with nine doubles and 10 stolen bases.

·        Two-time ECC Rookie of the Week freshman Madison D'Amato is hitting .410 with 15 RBI and a team-high 48 runs scored. One-time ECC Player of the Week junior Meg McFarland is batting .307 with 22 RBI and 39 runs scored and junior Samantha Schiebe has 31 RBI and six home runs and is hitting .348.

·        Two-time ECC Player of the Week junior Taylor Yates has a team-high 47 RBI, nine home runs and 12 doubles and his hitting .369.

·        ECC Preseason Pitcher of the Year and five-time ECC Pitcher of the Week junior Kaite Burawski leads the pitching staff with a 20-5 record, three saves, a 1.76 ERA and 265 strikeouts in 163.1 innings. Schiebe is 6-6 in the circle with a 5.69 ERA in 67.2 innings with 38 strikeouts.

Scouting the Dolphins

·        Staten Island is coming off 3-0 and 10-0 losses to STAC on Saturday.

·        The Dolphins were picked seventh in the ECC Preseason Coaches' Poll after going 5-17 last season.

·        Leading Staten Island at the plate is three-time ECC Rookie of the Week freshman Anissa Acosta who is batting a team-high .387 with a team-high 31 RBI and six home runs with 22 runs scored. Junior Samantha MacPherson is hitting .343 with 20 RBI and 19 runs scored.

·        Sophomore Elizabeth Moore is batting .287 with 12 RBI and freshman Mariah Carcano has 18 runs scored and 12 RBI.

·        The pitching staff is led by Acosta who is 7-8 with a 3.12 ERA in 67.1 innings with 31 strikeouts. Freshman Alexis Miramontes is 4-8 with a 5.52 ERA in 58.1 innings with 31 strikeouts.
