MANSFIELD, Mass. (June 24, 2022) – Mercy College field hockey 2022 graduates Savanna James (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville), Alyssa Sacco (Patchogue, N.Y./Patchogue-Medford) and Briannagh Smith (Sound Beach, N.Y./Miller Place) have earned the Northeast-10 Conference's (NE10) Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence. Mercy is an associate member of the NE10 for field hockey.
This is an award that the conference is offering to honor graduating seniors with magna cum laude status. The recipients must have participated in at least two seasons of NE10 competition and are a current student-athlete at the time of graduation. Each recipient shall be acknowledged in a formal conference press release and provided a keepsake medallion. James, Sacco, and Smith are three of 322 student-athletes that received the honor from the NE10.
James graduated with a 3.609 GPA last month as a Communication Disorders major. She ended her career playing in 26 games making 18 starts with one goal, two points and two defensive saves.
Sacco graduated with a 3.974 GPA last month as a History major. She has appeared in 33 games making 31 starts with five goals, six assists and 16 points.
Smith graduated with a 3.538 GPA last month as a Secondary Education-Mathematics major. She played in 44 games making 15 starts with one goal, one assist, three points and one defensive save.
