DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2022) – Mercy College men's lacrosse senior Brady Kearnan (Courtice, Ontario/Newberry College) has been drafted by the Georgia Swarm as the 20th pick in the first round of the 2022 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft earlier today.
Kearnan becomes the second player in program history to be drafted after Ryan MacSpadyen who was also drafted by the Georgia Swarm with the 13th pick in the first round in 2019. He joins his brother, Connor, who plays for the New York Riptide in the NLL. The native of Courtice, Ontario has played the last three seasons with the Mavericks after transferring from Newberry College. Kearnan has been named a USILA All-American each of the last two years and was a First Team All-American in 2022. The attackman also was named ECC Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-ECC this past season. He appeared in 18 games making 17 starts, recording 40 goals, 43 assists, 83 points and 33 ground balls. The senior led the team in points and assists and was second in goals. Kearnan helped lead the Mavericks to their third straight ECC Championship, third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and first-ever appearance in the National Championship Game.
In 2021, Kearnan was tabbed Second Team All-American and First Team All-ECC after posting a team-high 29 goals, 22 assists and 51 points. During the 2020 COVID shortened season, Kearnan was named Second Team All-American by Inside Lacrosse and started all six games. He finished with 17 goals, 11 assists and 28 points.
In 34 games as a Maverick, Kearnan has 86 goals, 76 assists, 162 points and 65 ground balls. He currently ranks sixth in program history in points, fourth in assists and seventh in goals.
The National Lacrosse League is a men's professional box lacrosse league in North America. The NLL currently has 14 teams: nine in the United States and five in Canada. Each team in the NLL plays 18 games during the regular season and the regular season begins in December and ends in June.
