Scouting the Mavericks

·         Mercy is coming off a 19-9 win over Wilmington on Saturday. The Mavericks were led by senior Brady Kearnan who had a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists.

·         On Monday, Kearnan was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time and senior Justin Gerdvil was tabbed to the Honor Roll.

·         Last Monday, Gerdvil and Heyder were both named to the ECC Honor Roll. Gerdvil was also named to the USILA Division II Team of the Week for the second time last Tuesday.

·         On February 27th, Kearnan and junior Jason Kuehner were tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll.

·         Kearnan has a team-high 42 points on a team-high 24 goals and 18 assists with seven caused turnovers and 16 ground balls. He recorded his 100th career ground ball against Le Moyne, recorded his 100th career goal as a Maverick against Georgian Court and recorded his 200th career point as a Maverick against Wilmington. Graduate student Jack Gibbons has 19 goals and six assists on the season and graduate student Thomas Connors is tied for third on the team with 20 points on 11 goals and nine assists. Junior Greg Gibbons has seven points on four goals and three assists and senior TJ Heyder has 20 goals. Senior Robert Guglielmo has five goals and two assists and junior Andrew Calabria has four goals and six assists. Freshman Devon Duchnowski has four goals and sophomore Ian Votta and freshmen Connor Abrahall and Anthony Barone have two goals.

·         The defense has been led by Gerdvil who has a team-high 19 caused turnovers with a team-high 27 ground balls. Graduate student Jake Fitzgerald is tied for second on the team with seven caused turnovers and senior Zack Higgins has five caused turnovers. Juniors Cristian Castles and Tyler Pjatak both have four caused turnovers. Kuehner is 81-121 (.669) on faceoffs with 21 ground balls and two goals. Graduate student Tommy Umano is 5-1 in goal with 50 saves, a .526 save percentage and 9.63 goals-against average.

·         Kearnan was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and Gerdvil was named Defensive Player of the Week on February 20th. Gibbons was tabbed to the Honor Roll for the second straight week on February 20th.

·         Barone was tabbed ECC Rookie of the Week on February 13th and Kuehner was named to the USILA Team of the Week on February 14th.

·         Mercy is 12-0 all-time against Roberts Wesleyan.

·         The Mavericks have won 21 straight games against ECC competition, with their last loss coming in the 2018 ECC Championship Semifinal.

·         The Mavericks are ranked No. 3 nationally in the USILA poll and No. 4 nationally in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. Mercy was ranked No. 2 nationally in the preseason for the first time in program history.

·         Mercy was picked to finish first in the ECC Preseason Poll and Kearnan was named ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and graduate student Jack Kipnes was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

·         The Mavericks made their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season and advanced to the National Championship Game for the first time last season. Mercy also won their third straight ECC Regular Season and Tournament Championships last season.

·         Mercy has had 10 straight winning seasons and have qualified for the ECC Championship in seven straight seasons.

·         The Mavericks are 53-7 in their last 60 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season.

·         Kearnan was named to the Inside Lacrosse Player of the Year Watch List on February 10th and Kearnan, Gerdvil, Jack Gibbons, Kipnes and Umano were tabbed USILA Preseason All-Americans on February 1st.

·         Kearnan, Gerdvil, Jack Gibbons, Kipnes, junior Tyler Pjatak and Umano were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans on January 27th.

·         Gibbons was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Midfielder of the Year and Kearnan, Gerdvil, Kipnes, Umano and Pjatak were tabbed to the Preseason All-American Teams.

Scouting the Redhawks

·         Roberts Wesleyan is coming off a 17-8 win over Saint Rose on March 11th.

·         The Redhawks were picked third in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 10-5 last season.

·         Roberts Wesleyan is receiving votes in the USILA Top 20 poll.

·         The Redhawks are led by one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week Reid Jackowski who has a team-high 38 points on 15 goals and a team-high 23 assists. Gunner MacMillan has a team-high 29 goals with five assists and Dan Doviak has 23 goals and five assists.

·         One-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week Parker Bossard and Luke Delavak both have a team-high 13 caused turnovers and Brady Kustra has 11 caused turnovers.

·         Isaac Marrero has a team-high 31 ground balls and is 69-of-126 (.548) on faceoffs.

·         Andy Davis is 3-2 in goal with 67 saves, a .508 save percentage and 11.44 goals-against average in six starts.
