Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off 8-0 and 5-1 losses to Rollins on Sunday. The Mavericks were led by senior Nicole Smart who recorded an RBI.
· Freshman Cayla Crawford was named ECC Player and Rookie of the Week and senior Alexi Benson was tabbed to the Honor Roll on Monday.
· Crawford was named ECC Rookie of the Week and junior Shannon Sisco was tabbed to the Honor Roll on February 20th.
· Mercy was picked fourth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 11-38 last season, qualifying for the ECC Tournament for the second straight season. The Mavericks went 9-15 in ECC play a year ago.
· The Mavericks are 4-2 in their last six meetings against Bloomfield and have won four straight meetings. Mercy is 0-7 in their last seven meetings against Adelphi.
· Sisco is hitting a team-high .333 with a team-high nine runs and 16 hits to go along with one RBI. Senior Hailey Puglia is hitting .270 with 10 hits and two doubles and senior Nicole Smart has four hits. Senior Sydney Johnston has a team-high four RBI with a double and junior Alexandra Karavias has two RBI.
· Crawford is hitting .407 with two RBI, 11 hits and a team-high five stolen bases.
· The pitching staff is led by senior Alexi Benson who is 1-6 with a 2.80 ERA in 45 innings with 36 strikeouts. Senior Angelina Oquendo is 0-3 with a 6.33 ERA in 21 innings and freshman Mackayla Secoda is 0-3 in four appearances in the circle.
· Benson, Sisco and senior Samantha Franck were named Second Team All-ECC last season.
· Mercy is hitting .184 as a team through 14 games and has a 5.01 ERA.
Scouting the Bears
· Bloomfield is coming off a 3-1 win over Franklin Pierce in Florida on Tuesday.
· The Bears were picked seventh in the CACC Preseason Poll after going 13-30 last season, qualifying for the CACC Tournament.
· Bloomfield is led at the plate by Sierra Albritton who is hitting a team-high .300 with 10 runs, 18 hits and two doubles. Starra Murphy is hitting .273 with a team-high seven RBI and three doubles.
· Spencer Ventura and Jocelyn Moody both have five RBI and Daniela Vidal has 13 hits and three RBI. Danielle Walters has a team-high 12 stolen bases.
· The pitching staff is led by Walters who is 2-4 in the circle with a 5.29 ERA and 21 strikeouts in 46.1 innings. Jillian Holmes is 1-4 with a 7.00 ERA in 28 innings with 11 strikeouts.
· The Bears have a .210 team batting average and a 6.45 ERA.
Scouting the Panthers
· Adelphi is coming an 8-1 win over Coker on February 25th. The Panthers will host Queens on Thursday before hosting Mercy on Sunday.
· The Panthers were picked first in the NE10 Preseason Poll after going 47-15 last season, advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
· Adelphi is ranked No. 15 nationally in the NFCA Poll.
· The Panthers are led at the plate by Courtney Wengryn who is batting a team-high .471 with a team-high 17 runs, 16 hits, four home runs and 13 RBI. Jordyn Pasqueralli is hitting .458 with 11 runs and three RBI and Faith Camilleri is hitting .389 with eight RBI.
· Zee Zee Shreter is hitting .316 with three home runs and 10 RBI.
· Lindsey Hibbs leads the pitching staff with a 1.24 ERA in 39.2 innings with a 4-1 record and 88 strikeouts. Claire Fon is 3-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 21 innings with 21 strikeouts.
