Scouting the Mavericks
· The Mavericks are coming off 6-1 and 3-1 losses to Saint Anselm on February 19th. Mercy was led by junior Mia Harris who had an RBI.
· Freshman Cayla Crawford was named ECC Rookie of the Week and junior Shannon Sisco was tabbed to the Honor Roll on February 20th.
· Mercy was picked fourth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 11-38 last season, qualifying for the ECC Tournament for the second straight season. The Mavericks went 9-15 in ECC play a year ago.
· Sisco is hitting a team-high .400 with a team-high three runs with eight hits to go along with one RBI. Senior Hailey Puglia is hitting .294 with five hits and two doubles and senior Nicole Smart has three hits. Senior Sydney Johnston has a team-high four RBI with a double and junior Alexandra Karavias has two RBI.
· The pitching staff is led by senior Alexi Benson who is 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA in 19 innings with 10 strikeouts. Senior Angelina Oquendo is 0-1 with a 5.83 ERA in 12 innings and freshman Mackayla Secoda is 0-2 in two appearances in the circle.
· Benson, Sisco and senior Samantha Franck were named Second Team All-ECC last season.
· Mercy is hitting .199 as a team through six games and has a 5.68 ERA.
Scouting the Mountain Cats
· Pittsburgh-Johnstown is coming off a 10-0 loss to West Virginia Wesleyan and an 8-3 loss to Saint Rose on Monday.
· The Mountain Cats were picked sixth in the PSAC Western Division Coaches' Poll after going 18-21 last season.
· Pittsburgh-Johnstown is led by Hannah Gnibus who is batting a team-high .333 with one RBI and one run scored. Kayla Miehl is hitting .286 with two runs, a team-high four hits and three doubles.
· Julia Mooney is hitting .273 with one RBI and Emilia Santiago has a team-high two RBI.
· Mia Smith has a team-best 2.63 ERA in eight innings pitched with seven strikeouts. Tori Radvan is 1-1 on the year with a 4.67 ERA in nine innings pitched with seven strikeouts.
· The Mountain Cats have a .221 team batting average and a 4.85 ERA.
Scouting the Bobcats
· West Virginia Wesleyan is coming off a 4-0 win over Wayne State and a 2-1 win over California (Pa.) on Tuesday. The Bobcats will face Lake Erie before taking on Mercy on Thursday.
· The Bobcats have been picked to finish first in the MEC South Division Coaches' Poll after going 38-18-1 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
· West Virginia Wesleyan has won six games in a row and are led at the plate by Taylor Swartz who is hitting a team-high .375 with a team-high 12 hits to go along with six RBI and four runs. Morgan Norris is hitting .303 with a team-high 10 RBI with six runs and 10 hits.
· Alli Robinson has a team-high seven runs and Grace Smith has six RBI.
· Kendall Stoffel leads the pitching staff with a 2.36 ERA in 26.2 innings with a 3-1 record and strikeouts. Hannah Hudson has a 2.62 ERA and 3-3 record with a team-high 35 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.
· The Bobcats are hitting .220 as a team and have a 3.21 team ERA.
Scouting the Beavers
· Bemidji State is coming off a 9-1 win over Ashland on Tuesday. The Beavers will face Kentucky Wesleyan and Notre Dame (Ohio) before facing Mercy.
· The Beavers were picked 12th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll after going 11-39 last season.
· Bemidji State is led by Ashley Herold who is batting a team-high .359 with a team-high 14 hits, 12 RBI and eight doubles. Alexa Christenson is hitting .333 with 13 hits and one home run and Elaina Christiansen has a team-high-tying 10 runs with 12 hits and five RBI.
· Mariah Stevenson is hitting .308 with 10 runs, nine RBI and 12 hits.
· The pitching staff is led by Kyla Damerow who has a team-best 3.35 ERA in 39.2 innings with a 1-5 record and 17 strikeouts. Stella Dolan is 6-2 in the circle with a 3.37 ERA and 26 strikeouts.
· Bemidji State has a .267 team batting average and 3.63 team ERA.
Scouting the Ravens
· Franklin Pierce is coming off 11-0 and 14-2 wins over Post on Monday. The Ravens will face Minnesota State Mankato and Felician on Thursday before facing Mercy on Friday.
· The Ravens were picked second in the NE10 Preseason Poll after going 30-12 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
· Franklin Pierce is led by Ashley Cangiano who is hitting a team-high .559 with a team-high 19 hits, 14 runs, 16 RBI, five triples and four home runs. Haley Bigwood is hitting .387 with 14 RBI and eight stolen bases and Lita Vorseth has seven RBI and is hitting .355.
· The pitching staff is led by Samantha Sylvester who has a team-best 1.95 ERA in 14.1 innings with a 2-0 record and 15 strikeouts. Sabrina Gonzalez is 3-0 in the circle with a 5.25 ERA in 17.1 innings with 13 strikeouts and Abby Poirot is 2-2 with a 3.23 ERA in 17.1 innings with six strikeouts.
· Franklin Pierce is hitting .336 as a team and has a 3.55 team ERA.
Scouting the Rock
· Slippery Rock is coming off 9-1 and 5-3 losses to Shepherd on Sunday.
· The Rock were picked seventh in the PSAC West Division Preseason Poll after going 15-22-1 last season.
· Slippery Rock is led by Cami Fisk who is batting a team-high .381 with a team-high eight hits and seven RBI. Alexsa Hurd is hitting .350 with five runs, seven hits and six RBI and Arielle brown is hitting .278 with a team-high seven runs scored.
· The pitching staff is led by Kelsi Anderson who has a team-best 2.77 ERA in 17.2 innings with a 1-1 record and 23 strikeouts. Claire Zimmerman has pitched 13.1 innings with a 4.73 ERA and six strikeouts.
· Slippery Rock is hitting .244 as a team with a 6.10 team ERA.
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
· American International will open their season on Friday against Shepherd and Upper Iowa before facing Mercy in their second game of the day on Saturday.
· The Yellow Jackets were picked 13th in the NE10 Preseason Poll after going 4-38 last season.
· AIC was led last season by sophomore Abigail Wells who hit a team-high .298 with 12 RBI, 18 runs and 31 hits. Kodi Gora had a team-high five home runs, nine doubles and 16 RBI last season with a .270 average.
· Isabella Erti was 2-17 last season with a 4.32 ERA in 105.1 innings with 54 strikeouts and Alexis Jimenez was 2-10 with a 4.56 ERA in 86 innings with 29 strikeouts.
Scouting the Tars
· Rollins is coming off 8-0 and 3-0 wins over Chestnut Hill on Monday. The Tars will face Queens and Post before facing Mercy on Sunday.
· The Tars were picked third in the Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll after going 32-12 last season, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.
· Rollins is led by Ashley Troutman who is batting a team-high .450 with a team-high 15 runs and 27 hits. Jaden Walker has a team-high 12 RBI and three home runs and Taylor Waters and Kaeli Zahradnik both have nine RBI.
· Ashley Worrell leads the pitching staff with a 2.51 ERA, a 4-1 record and 44 strikeouts in 39.0 innings. Emily MacMullen has pitched a team-high 55.2 innings with a 4-6 record, 3.40 ERA and 39 strikeouts.
· Rollins is hitting .291 as a team and has a 3.37 team ERA.
