Scouting the Mavericks
· Mercy is coming off a 24-10 win over Molloy in their regular season finale on Thursday. The Mavericks were led by senior Brady Kearnan and graduate student Jack Gibbons who both had a team-high seven points.
· Senior Justin Gerdvil was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week and seniors Brady Kearnan and TJ Heyder were tabbed to the Honor Roll on Monday.
· Kearnan was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week, senior Justin Gerdvil was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week and senior TJ Heyder was named to the Honor Roll last Monday.
· Graduate student Thomas Connors and Kearnan were named to the ECC Honor Roll on April 17th.
· On April 11th, graduate student Tommy Umano was named to the USILA Division II Team of the Week.
· Umano was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on April 10th and Kearnan was tabbed to the Honor Roll.
· On March 27th, freshman Devon Duchnowski was named ECC Rookie of the Week and graduate student Tommy Umano was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week. Heyder and junior Andrew Calabria were named to the Honor Roll.
· On March 21st, junior Jason Kuehner was named to the USILA Division II Team of the Week.
· On March 20th, graduate student Thomas Connors and juniors Brody Caskenette and Kuehner were tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll.
· On March 13th, Kearnan was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week for the third time and senior Justin Gerdvil was tabbed to the Honor Roll.
· On March 6th, Gerdvil and Heyder were both named to the ECC Honor Roll. Gerdvil was also named to the USILA Division II Team of the Week for the second time on March 7th.
· On February 27th, Kearnan and Kuehner were tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll.
· Kearnan has a team-high 74 points on 41 goals and a team-high 33 assists with eight caused turnovers and 24 ground balls. He recorded his 100th career ground ball against Le Moyne, recorded his 100th career goal as a Maverick against Georgian Court, recorded his 200th career point as a Maverick against Wilmington and recorded his 300th career point against Molloy on April 27th. Kearnan also recorded his 100th career assist as a Maverick against Adelphi on April 19th. Graduate student Jack Gibbons has 37 goals and 13 assists on the season, recording his 100th career goal against Roberts Wesleyan on March 19th. Graduate student Thomas Connors is third on the team with 53 points on 28 goals and 25 assists. Junior Greg Gibbons has 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists and Heyder has a team-high 52 goals with eight assists. Heyder recorded his 100th career point on March 19th and his 100th career goal against Molloy on April 27th. Senior Robert Guglielmo has six goals and six assists and Calabria has 15 goals and 21 assists. Caskenette has 11 goals and five assists and Duchnowski has 14 goals and two assists. Sophomore Ian Votta has six goals and two assists.
· The defense has been led by Gerdvil who has a team-high 35 caused turnovers with a team-high 73 ground balls. Graduate student Jake Fitzgerald is second on the team with 16 caused turnovers and graduate student Zack Higgins has eight caused turnovers. Junior Tyler Pjatak has 10 caused turnovers and two goals and graduate student Jack Kipnes has 11 caused turnovers and 35 ground balls. Kuehner is 173-260 (.665) on faceoffs with 59 ground balls, two assists and seven goals. He recorded his 100th career ground ball at STAC on April 23rd. Umano is 12-3 in goal with 145 saves, a .556 save percentage and 9.74 goals-against average. He recorded his 400th career save at Mercyhurst on April 1st.
· Kearnan was named ECC Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week and Gerdvil was named Defensive Player of the Week on February 20th. Gibbons was tabbed to the Honor Roll for the second straight week on February 20th.
· Freshman Anthony Barone was tabbed ECC Rookie of the Week on February 13th and Kuehner was named to the USILA Team of the Week on February 14th.
· Mercy is 13-1 all-time against Molloy and have won the last 13 meetings.
· The Mavericks have secured their eighth straight ECC Tournament berth and won their fourth straight ECC Regular Season Championship.
· The Mavericks have won 27 straight games against ECC competition, with their last loss coming in the 2018 ECC Championship Semifinal.
· Mercy looks to advance to the Final for the fourth straight season and fifth in program history.
· The Mavericks have won the last three ECC Tournament Championships.
· The Mavericks are ranked No. 8 nationally in the USILA poll and in the Nike/USA Lacrosse Magazine poll. Mercy was ranked No. 2 nationally in the preseason for the first time in program history.
· Mercy was picked to finish first in the ECC Preseason Poll and Kearnan was named ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Kipnes was tabbed Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
· The Mavericks made their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament last season and advanced to the National Championship Game for the first time last season. Mercy also won their third straight ECC Regular Season and Tournament Championships last season.
· Mercy has had 11 straight winning seasons.
· The Mavericks are 60-9 in their last 69 games dating back to the start of the 2019 season.
· Kearnan was named to the Inside Lacrosse Player of the Year Watch List on February 10th and Kearnan, Gerdvil, Jack Gibbons, Kipnes and Umano were tabbed USILA Preseason All-Americans on February 1st.
· Kearnan, Gerdvil, Jack Gibbons, Kipnes, junior Tyler Pjatak and Umano were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans on January 27th.
· Gibbons was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Midfielder of the Year and Kearnan, Gerdvil, Kipnes, Umano and Pjatak were tabbed to the Preseason All-American Teams.
Scouting the Lions
· Molloy is coming off a 24-10 loss to Mercy on Thursday.
· The Lions were picked fourth in the ECC Preseason Poll after going 7-10 last season.
· Molloy is making their third straight ECC Tournament appearance and fourth in five seasons.
· The Lions look to advance to the Final for the first time and are looking for their first-ever ECC Tournament Championship.
· Molloy is led by one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week Chris Delaney who has a team-high 58 points on a team-high 37 goals and 21 assists with 32 ground balls. Sean Plasencia has 28 goals and 10 assists with 39 ground balls and Jack Herzlinger has 20 goals and 14 assists.
· Ryan Downing has 20 assists with 14 goals and Konrad Maciejny has 16 goals and 13 assists.
· Brandon Pazienza is 121-243 (.498) on faceoffs with 58 ground balls and one-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and two-time Rookie of the Week Thomas Kofod has a team-high 75 ground balls and 35 caused turnovers.
· Three-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week Christian Michaels is 9-8 in goal with 187 saves, a .539 save percentage and 10.24 goals-against average in 16 starts.
