WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Feb. 26, 2024) – Mercy University men's basketball sophomore Asa Kone (Bronx, N.Y./Eagle Academy for Young Men) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Week 15.

Kone averaged a team-high 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game on 64.3 percent shooting as Mercy went 1-1 on the week. The sophomore opened the week with a career-high 24 points on 9-of-15 shooting with a game-high 11 rebounds and four blocks in the Mavericks' 91-87 win over Queens on Wednesday. The forward ended the week with 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting and a career-high 12 rebounds with two blocks at Molloy on Saturday. Kone led the ECC in rebounds, blocks, and field goal percentage this week.

The award is the first earned by Kone this season and the Mavericks have earned 11 awards on the year.
