WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Apr. 8, 2024) – Mercy University men's lacrosse sophomore Peter Murphy (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Port Jefferson) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week and seniors Greg Gibbons (North Bellmore, N.Y./Mepham) and Jason Kuehner (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week Nine.
Murphy had a career-high 12 saves in his first collegiate start to earn the win in No. 5 Mercy's 12-7 win over Molloy on Saturday.
Gibbons had a game-high five points on a game-high three goals with two assists, six ground balls, and one caused turnover in No. 5 Mercy's 12-7 win at Molloy on Saturday.
Kuehner went 12-of-22 on face-offs with a goal, an assist, and a game-high nine ground balls in No. 5 Mercy's 12-7 win at Molloy on Saturday.
The award is the first for Murphy this season, the fifth for Gibbons and the eighth for Kuehner. Mercy has now earned 31 awards on the year.
Head Coach Ryan MacSpadyen and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, April 13th when they play at Frostburg State at 1 p.m.
