WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (May 2, 2024) – Mercy University softball graduate student Samantha Franck (La Habra Heights, Calif./La Habra) and senior Shannon Sisco (Cicero, N.Y./Mansfield University) have been named First Team All-Conference and graduate student Nicole Smart (Santa Clarita, Calif./Golden Valley) has been tabbed Second Team All-Conference by the East Coast Conference (ECC), as announced by the conference office earlier today.
Franck is named All-Conference for the fourth straight season and is tabbed First Team All-ECC for the second straight season. The first baseman has appeared in 38 games making 37 starts with a .339 average, an East Region best 18 home runs to go along with 38 RBI, 30 runs and nine doubles. The one-time ECC Player of the Week leads the team in RBI and is tied for the team lead in runs and doubles. She ranks fourth in the ECC in RBI and is first with an .873 slugging percentage. Franck is currently ninth nationally in home runs, is third in home runs per game (0.47) and 11th in slugging percentage. She has set a single-season school record for home runs and recorded her 100th career RBI on April 13th. Franck ended the regular season hitting 17 home runs in the final 22 games. She had a season-high two home runs in wins over Staten Island, Dominican and Bloomfield.
Sisco is tabbed All-Conference for the third straight season and is named First Team All-Conference for the second straight year. The outfielder has appeared in and started all 40 games with a team-high .416 average with a team-high 57 hits to go with 18 RBI, 28 runs, 23 stolen bases, six doubles, three triples and one home run. The five-time ECC Honor Roll recipient is second in the ECC in batting average and third in stolen bases. Sisco set a school record for career stolen bases against Dominican. The senior went 7-for-9 with two RBI and five runs scored in Mercy's sweep of Staten Island on April 5th.
Smart takes home All-Conference accolades for the first time. The graduate student has started 34 games with a .337 average, 21 RBI, four home runs, 17 runs, 35 hits and nine doubles. The one-time ECC Player of the Week is tied for the team lead in doubles, is second in home runs and third in RBI. The graduate student recorded her 100th career hit against STAC on April 17th. Smart went 4-for-7 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs at Molloy on April 12th.
