NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (July 24, 2024) – The Mercy University women's lacrosse team has earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad honors for the 2023-24 academic year, as announced by the organization earlier today. The Mavericks have now received the award in nine straight years. The IWLCA also honored 524 student-athletes from 72 different institutions on the 2024 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll. A school-record 13 Mavericks earned a nod on this year's squad as Sydney Corley, Mackenzie Cummings, Carly Diolosa, Leah Hansen, Christina Lopreato, Olivia Maute, Leena Moussa, Isabelle Palladino, Kelly Rosenfeld, Erin Shimborske, Lindsey Shimborske, Savanna Spadalik and Brooke Zarou received the honor.
To qualify for the Academic Honor Squad, a school must have posted a 3.2 GPA or higher during the year. The Mavericks under Head Coach Dawn Sachs were one of 65 Division II schools to receive the honor.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
