Baseball Ranked No. 8 in NCBWA East Region Poll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Feb. 24, 2025) – The Mercy University baseball team is ranked No. 8 in the first National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) East Region Top 10 Poll.

Mercy enters the poll after going 5-4 to open the season in Cary, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Mavericks recorded three wins against teams that were ranked in the NCBWA Preseason East Region Poll. Mercy was led by junior Kolongi Goins who hit a team-high .417 with five RBI and six runs and was named ECC Player of the Week. Junior Diego Wirz went 1-0 on the mound with a 1.80 ERA and six strikeouts in 10.0 innings and was named to the ECC Honor Roll.

Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Saturday, March 1st when they play at Southern Connecticut State for a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
