Van Alstyne Named ECC Baseball Rookie of the Week; DiNapoli, Koch, Bernard Jr. and Goins Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. – Mercy University Baseball sophomore Tate Van Alstyne (Chatham, N.Y./Southern New Hampshire University) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Baseball Rookie of the Week for the second time and sophomore Ryan DiNapoli (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), junior Dylan Koch (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Pace University) and seniors David Bernard Jr. (Schenectady, N.Y./Herkimer CC) and Kolongi Goins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./FDR) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week 10.

Van Alstyne pitched 3.0 innings of relief with no earned runs allowed and two strikeouts in game one against CSI on Friday.

DiNapoli pitched a nine-inning complete game shutout with just seven hits allowed to earn the win in Mercy's 7-0 win over CSI on Sunday. The sophomore needed just 97 pitches to become the first Mercy pitcher to toss a nine-inning complete game shutout since 2017.

Koch hit .438 (7-for-16) with a team-high five runs, five RBI and a home run as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The junior went 2-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base in the win over CSI on Thursday. Koch then went 3-for-7 with four RBI, a home run and a run in the doubleheader against CSI on Friday. The junior ended the week going 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI in the win over CSI on Sunday.

Bernard Jr. hit .429 (6-for-14) with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The senior opened the week going 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run, and a double in the win over CSI on Thursday. The first baseman then went 2-for-7 with an RBI and a double in the doubleheader against CSI on Friday. Bernard Jr. ended the week going 1-for-3 with a run in the win over CSI on Sunday.

Goins hit a team-high .500 (6-for-12) with four runs, one RBI and one stolen base as Mercy went 2-2 on the week. The senior went 1-for-3 in the win over CSI on Thursday and went 3-for-5 with three runs in the doubleheader against CSI on Friday. Goins ended the week going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in the win over CSI on Sunday.

The award is the second for Van Alstyne this season, the second for Bernard Jr., the third for Koch, the fourth for Goins and the third for DiNapoli. Mercy has now earned 37 awards on the year.

Head Coach Chris Schoen and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday when they host Queens at 3 p.m.
