COLONIA, N.J. (Mar. 24, 2025) – Mercy University softball freshman Lauren McSweeney (Islip, N.Y./Islip) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Co-Rookie of the Week and graduate student Mia Harris (West Harrison, N.Y./Harrison), junior Mackayla Secoda (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and sophomore Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) have been tabbed to the Honor Roll for Week Five.
McSweeney tossed her first career complete game shutout with five strikeouts and just six hits and one walk allowed to earn the win in Mercy's 3-0 game one win over Staten Island on Wednesday.
Harris hit .444 (4-for-9) with two runs, two doubles, a triple, two RBI and a stolen base in three games this week. The graduate student opened the week going 4-for-6 with two RBI, two runs, two doubles and a triple in Mercy's sweep of Staten Island on Wednesday.
Murphy hit a team-high .462 (6-for-13) with two RBI, three runs scored, and two stolen bases as Mercy went 3-1 on the week. The sophomore opened the week going 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored in the Mavericks' sweep of Staten Island on Wednesday. The second baseman ended the week going 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Mercy's Game 2 win over AIC on Saturday.
Secoda tossed a complete game with just one run and five hits allowed to go with eight strikeouts in Mercy's 7-1 Game 2 win over AIC on Saturday.
The award is the third for McSweeney this season, the second for Harris and Secoda and the first for Murphy. Mercy has now earned 16 awards on the year.
Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action tomorrow when they play at STAC at 2:30 p.m.
