Murphy and Brandemarte Named ECC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week; Reyer and Seppala Tabbed to Honor Roll

COLONIA, N.J. (Apr. 28, 2025) – Mercy University softball sophomore Allison Murphy (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland) has been named the East Coast Conference (ECC) Softball Player of the Week and senior Skylar Brandemarte (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Stonehill College) has been tabbed Pitcher of the Week for Week 10. Sophomore Dylan Reyer (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) and senior Victoria Seppala (Abington, Mass./Abington) were named to the Honor Roll.

Murphy hit .414 (12-for-29) with a team-high eight runs and five doubles to go with a home run and six RBI as Mercy went 6-2 on the week to secure an ECC Championship berth. The sophomore opened the week going 3-for-7 with an RBI and a run in the sweep of Molloy on Monday. The second baseman then went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs in the game two win at CSI on Tuesday. Murphy went 4-for-8 with two RBI, a home run and three runs in the sweep at Molloy on Friday. The sophomore ended the week going 3-for-6 with a run against Queens on Sunday. 

Brandemarte went 3-1 in the circle with a save, a 1.45 ERA, and 13 strikeouts in 29.0 innings pitched with four complete games. The senior opened the week with a five-hit shutout with two strikeouts to earn the win over Molloy on Monday. On Friday, the pitcher tossed a one-hit shutout with two strikeouts to earn the win in game one at Molloy on Friday. In game two on Friday, the senior tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn the save. Brandemarte ended the week with a complete game and no earned runs allowed and five strikeouts in game one against Queens on Sunday. 

Reyer hit a team-high .450 (9-for-20) with four runs, two RBI, a triple and a team-high five stolen bases as Mercy went 6-2 on the week. The sophomore went 1-for-3 in the game two win over Molloy on Monday before going 4-for-6 with four runs in the sweep at CSI on Tuesday. The outfielder went 3-for-3 with two RBI in the game two win at Molloy on Friday before going 1-for-3 in game two against Queens on Sunday.

Seppala hit .391 (9-for-23) with a team-high eight RBI and two triples to go with a run and a double as Mercy went 6-2 on the week. The senior went 1-for-3 with an RBI to open the week in the sweep of Molloy on Monday. Seppala went 4-for-7 with four RBI in the sweep at CSI on Tuesday before going 1-for-4 with an RBI in the game two win at Molloy on Friday. The outfielder ended the week going 3-for-5 with an RBI against Queens on Sunday. 

The award is the fourth for Murphy this season, the eighth for Brandemarte, the second for Reyer and the first for Seppala. Mercy has now earned 30 awards on the year.

Head Coach Jaime Lorenzo and the Mavericks resume action on Thursday when they face Molloy at STAC at 2:30 p.m.
