Shimborske, Hansen and Kelly Named IWLCA All-Region

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (May 14, 2025) – Mercy University women's lacrosse senior Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) has been named Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First Team All-East Region and senior Leah Hansen (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) and freshman Ashlinn Kelly (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) have been tabbed Second Team All-Region, as announced by the organization earlier today.

The three All-Region selections for the Mavericks are the most from the ECC. The three honorees are the most for Mercy since 2022.

Shimborske is named First Team All-Region for the third straight season and has been named All-Region all four years on campus. The ECC Defender of the Year and First Team All-ECC selection appeared in and started in all 17 games with a team-high 62 ground balls, 120 draw controls and 39 caused turnovers. The four-time ECC Defensive Player of the Week and one-time IWLCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week ranked second in the ECC in ground balls, was first in draw controls and third in caused turnovers. Shimborske ranks No. 9 nationally in draw controls per game (7.06) and No. 15 nationally in ground balls per game (3.65). The ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year recorded her 300th career draw control and 200th career ground ball during the season. The senior set a school record for career caused turnovers.

Hansen is tabbed Second Team All-Region for the second straight year. The First Team All-ECC selection appeared in and started in all 17 games with 53 goals, 20 assists, 73 points and 15 ground balls. She led the team in goals, assists and points. Hansen was fourth in the ECC in goals, third in points and seventh in assists. The one-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week recorded her 200th career point during the season and had a season-high seven goals and nine points at UDC on April 19th.

Kelly receives All-Region recognition following her first season as a Maverick. The ECC Midfielder and Rookie of the Year started all 17 games with 48 goals, 17 assists, 65 points, 29 caused turnovers, 23 ground balls and 15 draw controls. The First Team All-ECC honoree was second on the team in goals, points and caused turnovers. The five-time ECC Rookie of the Week and one-time Player of the Week ranked fifth in the ECC in goals, sixth in points and fourth in caused turnovers. Kelly had a season-high eight points on five goals and three assists at UDC on April 19th and had a season-high four caused turnovers against Roberts Wesleyan on April 27th.
