Women's Lacrosse Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad; Seven Named to Academic Honor Roll

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 23, 2025) – The Mercy University women's lacrosse team has earned Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad honors for the 2024-25 academic year, as announced by the organization earlier today. The Mavericks have now received the award in 10 straight years. Seniors Lindsey Shimborske (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) and Leah Hansen (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) and juniors Kaci Bates (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon), Maeghan Callow (Massapequa, N.Y./Plainedge), Olivia LaMonica (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township), Emily Marino (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) and Andrea Mott (Miller Place, N.Y./Miller Place) were also named to the 2025 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll.

To qualify for the Academic Honor Squad, a school must have posted a 3.2 GPA or higher during the year. The Mavericks under Head Coach Dawn Sachs were one of 65 Division II schools to receive the honor. Mercy posted a 3.71 GPA throughout the 2024-25 academic year. 

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be a junior, senior or graduate student and have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Shimborske is named to the Academic Honor Roll for the second straight year. The senior graduated with a 3.99 GPA as a Health Science/Physical Therapy major. The IWLCA First Team All-American had a team-high 120 draw controls, 39 caused turnovers, and 62 ground balls.

Hansen is tabbed to the Academic Honor Roll for the second consecutive year. The senior graduated with a 3.75 GPA as a Psychology major. The IWLCA Second Team All-Region honoree had a team-high 53 goals, 20 assists and 73 points.

Bates earns the honor for the first time. The junior has a 3.73 GPA as a Business major. Bates had three ground balls and two caused turnovers in 16 starts.

Callow receives the honor for the first time. The junior has a 3.50 GPA as a Nursing major. The Second Team All-ECC recipient had 17 goals, eight assists, 25 points, 31 ground balls, 67 draw controls and 12 caused turnovers.

LaMonica takes home the accolade for the first time. The junior has a 3.92 GPA as a Health Science/Pre-Physical Therapy major. The Second Team All-ECC honoree went 10-7 in goal with 120 saves, a .448 save percentage and 10.16 goals-against average.

Marino is named to the Honor Roll for the first time. The junior has a 3.82 GPA as an Early Education/Psychology major. The First Team All-ECC selection had 32 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.

Mott earns the award for the first time. The junior has a 3.94 GPA as a Health Science/Pre-Physical Therapy. The Second Team All-ECC honoree in 2024 has 33 goals, 50 assists and 83 points in her career.
