DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Mercy University Assistant Vice President of Athletics Matt Kilcullen, Jr. is pleased to announce the hiring of Mike Perrota as Mercy University's first Women's Flag Football Head Coach.
"Coach Perrota has an outstanding reputation in the NY-NJ area, having founded the NJ Touchdown Club Flag in conjunction with NFL FLAG," said Assistant Vice President of Athletics Matt Kilcullen, Jr.
The Mavericks will begin play this spring as a member of the ECAC with 13 games, including four home games at Mercy Field. Mercy opens their inaugural season on Saturday, February 28th when they play PSU-Schuylkill and Kean at 2:30 & 4 p.m. at PSU-Schuylkill.
"It's an honor to be a part of this team in its first season. It's history, and we are all thrilled to be a part of it," said Mike Perrota. "We went from a collection of students-athletes who were interested in the sport to becoming a team. I can't be happier with their work ethic and the progress this winter."
Perrota currently serves as Mercy's Department Chair of the Communication and Arts, Associate Professor, Media Studies and advisor to The Impact, the school's news publication.
